Ryan M Schroeder Receives Fulbright Award
Hello Everyone,
I have been awarded a 2017-2018 Fulbright Grant to Germany! I wanted to share this remarkable honor with you if I have not already. I am elated and humbled by the opportunity to serve as an artistic and cultural liaison for the United States in Europe. In Germany, I will conduct research, support the teaching of English, and create art at the Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf as part of a project intended to address the effects of the Garzweiler mines, in the ghost town of Immerath. My work will engage the socio-economic realities of life in a condemned mining community. I will also be exploring the historical significance of the Ruhr region in developing German industry, and the impact these changes had on European art and culture.
For more information, please see the official PR document provided by the Fulbright Foundation.
Thank you,
Ryan Schroeder
